Understandably at the moment, you might have concerns about your wedding plans and be considering your options. So I just wanted to provide some reassurance if you are affected by Coronavirus.
I have answered some of your questions below, but get in touch if you want more information.
I might have to postpone my wedding, what should I do?
Just give me a shout - a call, email or text. I can let you know my availability and we can chat through any plans or worries that you have.
Your original deposit will still be valid and cover your new date and there are no extra costs for rescheduling (unless there is a significant change in mileage).
2021 is looking to be a very busy year for all wedding suppliers, so please get in touch as soon as you are considering changing your plans to find a provisional date. I am happy to pencil a date in for you until you have confirmed with your other vendors. You may wish to consider week days, as it is more likely that more of your suppliers will be available.
Could I have a smaller ceremony?
Absolutely! From 29th June 2020, small weddings are allowed to take place in Scotland. This year, more couples are considering less conventional wedding ceremonies. Small weddings are so personal, beautiful and raw. You could have an intimate, legal wedding - out on a beach, in a woodland, in a garden - allowing you to focus on the heart of a wedding, the love that you two share.
Currently ceremonies must be outdoors, social distancing must be followed and there are limitations on numbers of guests. I'm keeping up-to-date with the government guidance, which we will strictly have to follow. You can also check National Records of Scotland or your local registrars for information on this.
For a tiny wedding, the very minimum you would require would be a celebrant, two witnesses, the correct paperwork, and the landowners permission.
If you wanted a larger celebration down the line, we could hold an affirmation ceremony, reinforcing the love that you share and the promises that you made to each other during the legal ceremony, in front of your friends and family.
What if you’re not available on our new date?
I hope this won’t be the case, as of course I would love to still be a part of your day. However, I am part of a group of amazing celebrants from Independent Humanist Ceremonies. We are a close team and work together to ensure that you will have a celebrant to cover your date. You would still be covered by your original deposit. I would forward the ceremony script that we have been working on to your new celebrant, so they can finalise it with you and deliver it for you on your new date.
Are you taking new bookings?
The world might seem like it is on hold but I am still taking new bookings. Although we can’t currently meet in person I’m available to chat over Skype/Zoom/Hangouts/Whatsapp, so we can get your wedding plans on track. Lockdown is a great time for wedding planning!
Please just keep in touch. Take care and stay safe x
